Elven Fairy Magic was painted for Morland Studios in 2013. She is an officially licensed 1/6th scale model kit based on the artwork “Elven Fairy Magic” by Howard David Johnson and was sculpted by Joe Laudati.
Elven Fairy Magic was the first figure that I completely painted in Garage Kit US colors. I have been using this brand of paint for just over a year now and they have become my favorite paint brand. They work equally well as a brush on paint and as an airbrush paint without any batch color consistency problems, paint cracking or other nastiness I’ve had from other paint brands. They also play nice with most miniature paint lines and I HIGHLY recommend this brand of paint.

Since it is the start of a new year, I thought I’d mention some of the more memorable Conventions and Modeling Contests that I attended last year.
In September I attended JerseyFest. This convention was AWESOME. Lots of friendly folks, lots of great classes and seminars. All of the artists attending shared tips and tricks and were all around friendly people. I also did a demo on small scale miniature painting.
This is a show well worth attending! Next year’s dates are set for August 1st through August 3rd. If you want to know more about their show, or info for next years show, you can find out more here:
I painted this large scale figure from Reaper miniatures last year. Because she is supposed to be an animated ships figurehead, I went with a weather worn and paint cracking look for her. She is 11.5″ tall with a 9.5″ wingspan and was also an interesting experiment in crackling techniques.
